Mad river valley canoe lending program

Mad River Path offers 15-foot Esquif canoes for use by community members. The goal of the landing library is to make outdoor recreation accessible to more people by removing the barriers to participation.

  • There is no cost to borrow a canoe, but if you can, please make a donation to the Mad River Path.

  • You can make a reservation and arrange pick up by contacting Misha Golfman at 603 903 5567, or misha@madriverpath.org.

You will fill out the lending program agreement, agreeing to take good care of the equipment, return it on time, and reimburse any damages that may occur while under your care.

  • A canoe comes with paddles, life jackets, pads, and straps to tie the boat to your car. A canoe can be tied to any vehicle, with or without roof racks.

  • You can borrow a canoe for a few hours, a day, or a weekend. Longer borrowing periods for overnight expeditions can be arranged as demand allows.

  • Canoes are available from April through October on a first-come, first-served basis, except when they are in use by the Mad River Path Programs or Mad River Triathlon.

  • Two canoes are available per family.

  • You can take your canoe on any navigable waterway, in and out of state. If you plan on paddling white water in the borrowed canoe, we will do a skills verification first.
