The Virtual Mad Dash a Success

Thanks so much to the many people who supported the “virtual” 24.5 Annual Mad Dash this year! Due to the pandemic, hosting a physical event just was not possible. Rather than completely cancel the event we chose to host a “virtual” run this year where participants could run on their own, make a donation, or purchase a 2020 Mad Dash shirt or hat. We also want to thank the many business sponsors who supported the event including our major sponsors Sugarbush Resort/Win Smith, Lawson’s Finest, BlueCross/BlueShield of Vermont, and our presenting sponsors Kingsbury Construction, Mehuron's Supermarket, Friends of the Mad River, and Joe Grant Physical Therapy; plus the many local generous businesses that stepped up this year. Overall we had more than 140 participants who ran or walked a 5k or 10k. Several families and their kids participated in the 1k event. We also want to thank Harwood Union High School for allowing us to set up a course on their cross country trails to give people a safe and beautiful place to run or walk on their scenic paths.

An important part of our “virtual” event is the funds we raised to support the miles of trails and pathways here in the valley. If we cancelled the event, $0 would have been raised by the Mad Dash. Instead, over $21,000 was raised from registrations, t-shirt and hat sales, sponsorships, and donations! We exceeded our donation goal of $2,500, the most Mad Dash has raised from donations to date. Thank you, again, for everyone’s support. We look forward to seeing everyone in person next year for the Mad Dash’s 25th anniversary.
