Aid Stations

There will be aid stations at the start, finish, and transition zones. They will offer water refills and package-free, homemade snacks. There are no disposable cups at the aid stations, please carry a cup or water bottle with you.

T-Shirts

We are excited to offer Allmade 50/50 cotton and polyester blend t-shirts. Allmade tees are carbon neutral, utilize less water than traditional tees, and are 50% recycled polyester. Additionally, Allmade is dedicated to providing fair-wage jobs in ethically operated workplaces. If you did not purchase a shirt when registering, you can return to the registration page and purchase it as a standalone item. There will be a limited number of shirts available for purchase on race day, but we recommend purchasing one now to guarantee you get your preferred size.

Paddling Options

Feeling unsure about paddling in high water or looking for paddling equipment options? We have two canoe rentals left! Or take on the paddling leg in the safety of a guided raft with other participants. You can find and purchase both options as standalone items on the registration page.

Volunteers

We are now recruiting volunteers for the race! If you have friends or family that won’t be competing, but would like to participate in a meaningful way, encourage them to volunteer. There are a wide variety of positions available, with many volunteer time slots finishing before the conclusion of the race. Find the available positions and sign up here.

Weather and Conditions

Spring weather is beautiful in its unpredictability. This means that any decisions regarding the course will be made by our team in the days leading up to the event. A “Current Conditions” page will be added to the event website and updated daily starting on Tuesday, April 1st.

Course

Course descriptions and maps are available here. You are welcome to scout the course in advance, but we will not have directional signs up until the day before the event.

Lodging

We are excited to announce that our sponsor, Madbush Falls, will be donating 50% of the triathlon weekend’s proceeds to us. As you are beginning to make your travel arrangements, please consider staying with them to further support the triathlon.

Camping

Free camping is available at Mt. Ellen the night before the race. This is just a ski area parking lot, and not a traditional campground, so there are limited amenities. You can pitch a tent or sleep in a vehicle. Please “purchase” the camping option on the registration page if you are planning to camp so we know how many people to expect.

The Mad River Triathlon celebrates community and nature and focuses on sustainability and inclusivity. The organizers strive for a zero-waste event and a reduction of the event’s carbon footprint and invite people of all ages, abilities, and skill levels to participate, volunteer, or spectate. We will be in touch soon with more details and race day logistics. In the meantime, thank you for supporting this event!
